This level is for students who have mastered phonics and are ready to learn to read for meaning. This is anywhere from 2nd to 4th grade. Start here with older students with learning challenges, inexperienced ESL students, or any student needing in depth knowledge of prefixes and suffixes. Includes 30 affixes (prefixes or suffixes), 155 days of activities, and six assessments. The components are:

Students who have completed Foundations Level 1 are ready for this level OR students in 5th grade who have not completed Level 1. Includes 36 affixes (prefixes and suffixes), 180 days of activities, and seven assessments. The components are:

Students who have completed the Foundations series are ready for Elements OR students in 6th grade or higher. DO NOT START STUDENTS OF ANY AGE IN ELEMENTS 2 OR 3. Includes 25 Latin or Greek roots (125 activities) PLUS prefix/suffix review (20 activities). There is an assessment for each root and mid-term and final assessments. The components are:

Players select a root and then string it together with prefixes and suffixes to build as many words as they can before time runs out! With over 200 roots and 18,000+ words, your children (and you) can play again and again trying to improve scores. The game can be played in competitive (timed) mode or as a self-paced supplement to the root you are covering in the Elements series. It can be used to supplement either the books or WordBuildOnLine.
